2. Facebook appoints former Hotstar CEO Ajit Mohan as India MD & VP.


3. The Supreme Court constituted a three-member committee headed by its former judge Justice Amitava Roy to look into the aspect of jail reforms across the country and suggest measures to deal with them.

7. World Bank Board has endorsed an ambitious five-year Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for India 

  • It aligns with New Delhi's objectives of high, sustainable and inclusive growth.

  • The move is aimed at supporting India's transition to a higher middle-income country by addressing some of its key development priorities such as resource efficient and inclusive growth, job creation and building its human capital. 

  • The framework is expected to bring between 25 and 30 billion US Dollars in financial support from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA). 

8. 2nd Global RE-INVEST to be held in New Delhi from 3rd to 5th Oct.

  • The 2nd Global RE-INVEST will also host the First Assembly of International Solar Alliance.

  • As per the Paris Accord on Climate Change, India made a pledge that by 2030, 40 per cent of the installed power generation capacity should be based on fossil fuel based sources. 

9. IL&FS Financial Services MD and CEO Ramesh C Bawa quits 

  • Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS) defaulted on interest payments.
  • IL&FS Financial Services MD & CEO Ramesh Bawa along with four independent directors and a non-executive director quit 
  • IL&FS also failed to repay corporate deposits subscribed by the Small Industries and Development Bank of India (SIDBI). It only repaid Rs 50 crore out of 250 crore.
